Overseas citizen of India (OCI) can be applied by all overseas Indians who migrated, except those who settled in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Indian origins who acquire their foreign citizenship are eligible to apply for oci card. You can apply as an individual or as a family. Family comprises of husband, wife, and children below the age of 18 years. You must select one option from individual or family. Spouse can apply if he/ she are eligible in her/his own capacity.
There are some Privileges enjoyed by oci card holder which include;
Life long visa to India for any number of visits, multiple entries, and multi-
purpose
Exemption from registration with foreigner’s regional registration officer for any
length of stay
Can make investments in India
Can apply for Indian citizenship after 5 years and must have stayed for 1 year.
Enjoy the same benefits as NRLS in economic, financial and educational fields
except in matters leading to agriculture property and plantation.
In order to be eligible you need to submit the following documents
Documents providing applicants parent migration from India after 26th January 1950
Documents showing proof of residence in territories like Goa, Pondicherry, and Sikkim which merged with the Indian after 15th August 1947
The applicant form will be accompanied with a draft of USD 275 as application fee. If the application is rejected, you will be refunded USD 250 after deduction of USD 25 as processing fee.
o Employment visa is granted to those who are employee of an Indian company. Employment visa is issued only from the country of origin. It is given to skilled or qualified professional, or a person appointed by an Indian company, organization, industry undertaking a contract as a technical or in managerial position. It is varied for a year irrespective of the duration of the contract and further extension up to 5 years can be granted.
Employment visa for clerical, routine, secretarial jobs will be granted under any circumstances. You should apply for jobs which doesn’t have a large number of qualified Indian because if you apply for such, visa will be denied.
The Indian companies are responsible for professional conducts during your stay in India and also be responsible for your departure from India upon expiry of their employment visa.
